About Me...
March 2018
Hi, how y'all are? My name is Katherine, I am 25 years old, and the youngest of three daughters. I am Reformed Presbyterian, a Southerner, a country girl, and a proud member of the "bratitude" (that is: the multitude of military brats).
My family is retired military, who for the past fourteen years have been caretakers of my grandparents, one of whom, praise God, is still with us, at age 95!
I miss my Granddaddy and my Grandpa, whom we also cared for, and who passed away in November 2014 and July 2016 respectively.
I and my family have also spent the past 5+ years battling with Chronic Lyme, co-infections, and toxicities. I and the entirety of my family still continue to daily battle with symptoms. I am most commonly afflicted with fatigue, pain, and mental "fogginess" and memory deficits, to name a few of my most major symptoms. However, I do not wish to neglect to mention the profound grace and mercy of God my Father, who has indeed shown myself and my family kindness in many ways, especially by way of restoring all of our health to a somewhat better state than it has been in the past, though it is still a very long road to complete wellness for all of us.
My eldest sister married in April of 2016, and gave birth to their first child, and my first nephew, on Thanksgiving day of 2017, and their second child, who I call "Baby Girl" the following year.
In the summer of 2016 I spent three days a week working in a small, vintage shop we owned in the local mini-mall, but we had to close it down due to it's monetary unprofitably. I also spent a few weekends during the winter "shop-sitting" for a shop owner in the same mini-mall, as he was away.
For many years since retiring, during the summers we regularly worked as vendors at farmers markets, selling extra produce if we had it, and home-made handcrafts such as aprons, and doll dresses, as well as baked goods, among quite a few other things. I called our set up a bit of a "general store", as we seem to have had almost a little bit of everything at some point or other! And we got started with all of that because of the roadside rhubarb business my Grandpa had started years ago!
I also worked for nearly three years housekeeping in the local area before I got married and moved.
In 2019 I married my best friend, who is the Love of my Life!
And this past summer, my other sister (The Middle Kid (here is her blog)) married his brother!
And, we get to live really close to one another! So that is amazing.
I have so many interests that it would be impossible for me to list them all, but among them are art, writing, history, photography, eating, cooking, reading, sewing, talking, laughing, music (and more music!), dolls, making other people laugh, reenacting, English Country dancing, gardening, farm animals, and shooting--to name but a few.
Above all, my interest is to be furthered in my Christian walk and sanctification, and to serve my LORD and accomplish that which He has ordained for me to do through my life.
On my blog I write about my daily life, as well as at times sharing some of my photography and writings--whether essays, discussions, or poems. I do not always post very frequently, depending on how much business of life gets it the way, or the malaise of feeling unwell. I try to post when I can, and I hope that you will stop by once in a while, and that whatever I post will be a word fitly spoken, or will just give you a laugh when you need it!
If you would like to contact me, please feel free to do so through my contact page.
Here you will find simply wandering words…
May all of my wandering words and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in the sight of God, my strength and Redeemer.
